Sean Busbey commented on AVRO-1694:

I remain happy to provide reviews for hte Ruby library. I don't have a commit bit, but I know
how to nettle the committers. :)

> Key: AVRO-1694
> URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/AVRO-1694
> Project: Avro
> Issue Type: Wish

> There does not seem to be any support for generating schema fingerprints in the Ruby
library. In order to avoid inlining schemas in my Avro-encoded messages I'd like to store
them separately and instead write the fingerprint in the Avro metadata, thus allowing a reader
to fetch and cache the actual schema from the schema registry.
> In order for that to work, my Ruby writer needs to be able to actually generate a fingerprint
for a schema.
> Is the Ruby library being actively maintained? I would be willing to work on this myself
if someone would review and merge the work.
