Let's move that into a separate JIRA. Interning is not recommended on Java 6 since it pollutes
permgen, and in Java 7 it may need tuning (http://java-performance.info/string-intern-in-java-6-7-8/),
so we should be cautious about when we do it, and then only for demonstrable gain.
