Mina Naguib commented on AVRO-1306:
-----------------------------------

Hi Doug

I don't think AvroReducer is involved here. The patch is for the section of the doc titled:
{code}
For jobs whose input is an Avro data file and which use an AvroMapper, but whose reducer is
a non-Avro Reducer and whose output is a non-Avro format
{code}

In this case, I had an AvroMapper, and a vanilla hadoop reducer (input AvroKey/AvroValue,
output Text/IntWritable). Since the output is not AvroKey/AvroValue, it's not suitable for
being used as a combiner, as it's output can't be re-fed into its input.

> The documentation for hadoop usage (input avro, output non-avro) is misleading, as the
Reducer is likely not usable as a combiner. Attached patch clarifies documentation.
