Jakob Homan commented on AVRO-806:
----------------------------------

(1) sounds good.

I'm curious about the decision to go with 1 row group/block and 1 block/file. The recommendation
is to increase the block size, up to a 1 gb or more. Any background on this design decision?
Any reason not to go with multiple, smaller row groups per file ala RCFile?

> Define a codec that, when a data file's schema is a record schema, writes blocks within
the file in column-major order. This would permit better compression and also permit efficient
skipping of fields that are not of interest.
