Subject [jira] [Commented] (AVRO-1012) Improve avro-service-archetype: POM and IT changes

Scott Carey commented on AVRO-1012:
-----------------------------------

I noticed that the build creates a file that is not in the target/ dir. Should we move it
or set svn:ignore for it?

The file in question is:

lang/java/archetypes/avro-service-archetype/src/main/resources/archetype-resources/pom.xml

IMO if this is a generated file, it should be placed in
lang/java/archetypes/avro-service-archetype/target/generated-resources/archetype-resources/pom.xml

or similar.

Opinions / ideas?

I also note that in lang/java/archetypes/avro-service-archetype/src/main/pom/pom.xml there
are a few versions for plugins that are not shared with the parent build, in particular the
surefire plugin, failsafe plugin, and compiler plugin.

> * Use the same dependency versions as Avro itself where applicable (all except logback
which I've updated to 1.0.0)
> * Replace all tabs with spaces/code formatting
> * Set source encoding to prevent compiler warnings
> * Fix logback.xml to be well-formed XML
