Subject [jira] Updated: (AVRO-779) Add Test for retention of schema metadata in schema serialization
Date Wed, 09 Mar 2011 20:57:59 GMT

Doug Cutting updated AVRO-779:
------------------------------

    Fix Version/s:     (was: 1.5.0)
                   1.5.1
         Assignee: Milind Bhandarkar

I think this is already tested by other tests. Field properties are tested in testRecord()
and schema properties are tested by checkProp(), which is run on every type of schema. What
does this test that's not tested by those?

> Schema metadata (i.e. non-avro metadata) must be retained in the string serialization
(toString) of Schema. The forthcoming patch adds a test to TestSchema that ensures this retention.
Basically, it tests for the invariant:
> <code>
> assertEquals(schema, Schema.parse(schema.toString()));
> </code>
