I know this is old and most attention has been on fortress lately, but
does anyone know if this has been resolved. I never submitted a formal
bug (should i?). Or I could take a look at trying to solve it and submit
a patch.

Thanks!

Use this construct:

<tag xml:spacing="preserve">
  SELECT col1, col2, col3
  FROM table
  WHERE col1 = 1
  AND col2 = 'hey'
</tag>

(at least I think it is "preserve"--it should match the
XML spec....)
