Pete:

I formal reject your veto in accordance with the policy and procedures
established by the JMC on the grounds that you failed to supply
explanation as to why these changes should not go ahead.

In you email:

http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=avalon-dev&m=102949559027169&w=2

You incorrectly imply that because Merlin can read a Phoenix blocking
based xinfo file, that no further action is needed. As you well known,
Merlin uses a substantially more complete meta-model. The addition of
the .xtype is required to workaround the constraints introduced by
components that are directly referencing Phoinix class.

This is explained in the following two emails - both of which you chose
to ignore.

http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=avalon-dev&m=102950665605103&w=2
http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?l=avalon-dev&m=102949698528352&w=2

You further justify a -1 against the addition of the .xprofile on the
grounds of a future Phoenix format that has not even been discussed. On
this particular -1, your veto is simply irrational. I think Nicola
summarised your position rather well in his email:

http://marc.theaimsgroup.com/?t=100534106200007&r=1&w=2

While the addition of xtype and xprofile files are required in order to
broaden the availability and usablity of conerstone compoents across
containers other than Phoenix - you actions are eliminating the
potential of component reuse and inhibiting any development or evolution
of that is not directly under your own personal veto control. Is this
really your idea of open source collaboration - or is it more simply
your reaction to a little competition?

Cheers, Steve.
