Subject Re: DefaultLogKitManager: Allowing the client to determine if the Logger exists without creating a default
Date Mon, 04 Feb 2002 23:58:46 GMT

Had a bit more of a think about the problem and realized that I can write
my own class to replace DefaultLogKitManager. The sad part is that the only
code that has to change is in the getLogger method. Everything else is a
direct copy - pitty about the lack of reuse but this may be easier than
changing the interface.

Subject: DefaultLogKitManager: Allowing the client to determine if the
Logger exists without creating a default

I need to determine whether the named Logger category actually exists
without creating a default. The method "getLogger( final String
categoryName )" on the class DefaultLogKitManager will create the Logger if
it does not exist. My requirement has to do with not losing logged messages
or sending them to the wrong place (which could happen if the wrong default
is instantiated).

...

Perhaps someone else may have a better suggestion.
