You could also just accept arguments to pass along to ssh.  That covers a bunch of other use
cases, and allows the end-user to select the level of verbosity as well
{noformat}
     -v      Verbose mode.  Causes ssh to print debugging messages about its progress.  This
is helpful in debugging connection, authentication, and configu-
             ration problems.  Multiple -v options increase the verbosity.  The maximum is
3.
