Subject [jira] [Commented] (ATLAS-1734) Import API: Add Support to Update Attributes of Existing Types During Import
Date Mon, 17 Apr 2017 15:51:41 GMT

Ashutosh Mestry commented on ATLAS-1734:

[~davidrad] I agree with what you are saying. What we have done is restricted the Import &
Export only to admin users. This enhancement is part of the import flow and not a stand-alone
feature, which means that same restrictions will apply to this as well.

Import API as it exists, supports full restore functionality. Which means, that a cluster
that needs to be replicated with an existing Atlas instance, will be able to do that. I have
linked the parent JIRA (ATLAS-1503) for clarity.

Hope this helps.

> *Background*
> Existing version of Import API allows for importing types that are not already present
in the system being imported in. This causes import to fail in the cases where the data being
imported happens to have the additional attribute.
> *Solution*
> During import, existing types are checked to determine if the types being imported have
additional attributes. If additional attributes exist, then the existing type is updated with
the new attributes. The import then proceeds.
> *Impact Assessment*
> - Import API:
> -- Type import: Additional capability (mentioned above).
> -- Entity creation and processing: No impact.
> - Export API: No impact.
