Subject [jira] [Commented] (ATLAS-339) UI: Improve the flow for associating tags to entities

Hemanth Yamijala commented on ATLAS-339:
----------------------------------------

Couple of corrections to the previous comment:

* The first DSL search is of the form <type> where <attribute>='<name>'.
E.g. hive_table where tableName='tbl42'.
** In the absence of a schema browser, it is difficult for a user to know which attribute
to search on. This could be fixed by making name an attribute that's always present in any
type.

* The search view when searching by a column does not allow tags to be added.
** To fix this, as described above, Add tag functionality should be available in the search
results view for any referenceable entity.

> A primary use case for Atlas is to assist discovery and policy management through metadata
that is managed by it. Tags (aka Traits) is a way of enabling this.
> From a UI perspective, the flow to assign tags to entities involves the following steps:
> * Getting to an entity of interest (currently realized through search results and details
page for an entity)
> * Adding tags to entities.
> This JIRA is to discuss and implement changes to improve the experience of this flow.
