Christopher Aycock commented on ARROW-345:
------------------------------------------

It also might be worth noting in the documentation that Homebrew's Hadoop doesn't have the
native libs. I had to install them manually from these instructions:

>                 Key: ARROW-345
>                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/ARROW-345
>             Project: Apache Arrow
>          Issue Type: Bug
>          Components: C++
>    Affects Versions: 0.1.0
>         Environment: macOS
>            Reporter: Christopher Aycock

> The runtime linking to libhdfs assumes a Linux ("libhdfs.so") or Windows ("hdfs.dll")
name:
> https://github.com/apache/arrow/blob/master/cpp/src/arrow/io/libhdfs_shim.cc#L347
> The Mac name is "libhdfs.dylib". I recommend making the logic to find libhdfs similar
to the logic that finds libjvm.
> I can submit a patch if desired.
