Subject digest functions and validation

I'm wondering why APR only supports rather dated digest algorithms.

I understand that they might be important for backwards compatibility, but
being the only ones available seems a bit strange to me.

Are you planning to add functions for sha256, sha512, and ripemd-160 in the
future? (those are the ones mostly used these days)
