Most of the strings did NOT end in a period.  It would be more consistent to 
remove periods from those that do.  The Subversion project extends the set of 
APR errors, and has chosen not to end its error strings with a period.

(By the way, could you attach your patches as MIME type "text/plain" rather 
than "application/octet-stream"?  That would allow me to see them in my mail 
reader without having to first save them, which would make me more likely to 
read them.  I don't know if you can control this - it depends what mail 
software you use.)
