Shortly after these commits I get the following on a system with libtool
1.3.4.  Coincidence?

> libtool: link: error: cannot link shared libraries into libtool
> libraries
> make[3]: *** [libaprutil.la] Error 1
> make[2]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
> make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
> make: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
