APR calls normally don't check for NULL values, but segfault instead. It is the
responsibility of the caller to check for NULL values.

Also, similar libc functions segfault on NULL as well. For instance, this program:

#include <stdio.h>
#include <stdlib.h>

int main(int argc,char **argv){
  long a;

  a=strtol(argv[1],NULL,10);

  printf("%ld\n",a);

  return 0;
}
--------------------------------

Produces the following output:
--------------------------------
$ ./main 33
33

$ ./main
Segmentation fault
--------------------------------
