Summary: apr_dso_load broken on Mac OSX
           Product: APR
           Version: HEAD
          Platform: Macintosh
        OS/Version: other
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: APR
        AssignedTo: bugs@apr.apache.org
        ReportedBy: eaepstein@gmail.com

The Mac build defines DSO_USE_DYLD which specifies the use of
NSCreateObjectFileImageFromFile() instead of dlopen(). As a result, the standard
OSX library path, DYLD_LIBRARY_PATH, is ignored and apr_dso_load is broken.

The Apple developer site says the use of NSCreateObjectFileImageFromFile is
discouraged. See
http://developer.apple.com/documentation/DeveloperTools/Reference/MachOReference/Reference/reference.html

Why not use dlopen() on the Mac as is done with most other UNIX?

Eddie
