Hi Scot,
this is a feature that may get into ant 1.8.0.
There is a bugzilla issue associated with it:
http://issues.apache.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=29251

The main problem at the moment is - what does "ant.file.<<project>>" mean
and how to do relative importing.
