I found an answer to my question: use the concat task with a nested fileset.

Example:

<xslt in="${instance}" style="${stylesheet}" out="${xslt.result}"
      extension=".txt">
</xslt>
<concat>
      <fileset file="${xslt.result}"/>
</concat>
