If you tell Ant, yes. ;)

  <copy todir="${distdir}" verbose="true">
    <fileset dir="${resourcesdir}" includes="img/"/>
  </copy>

The point is that the RELATIVE paths in the filesets is what is copied, 
EXCLUDING the "dir".
