I use it for startup scripting for BEA weblogic - I setup the classpath,
environment variables, passwords, etc. This makes replicating my
environment vars between machines (and between windows and unix) pretty
easy.

Well, if you are familiar with Ant, you may find it convinient to use for
non-Java projects... all of it's functionality is relevant with the
exception of the javac task and it gives you access to command line tools
you might need. For example, i use Ant to build the sarissa distribution
(a javascript library).
