Ant-contrib's <stopwatch> can help you do this easily, like:

<target name="MyTarget">
   <stopwatch name="MyTarget.time" action="start"/>
     [work work work]
   <stopwatch name="MyTarget.time" action="total"/>
   <echo message="It Took: ${MyTarget.time}" file="MyLogs.log".../>
</target>
