It depends what you actually want to do with the
output. Usually I do it in one of these way
1) ant -f mybuild.xml mytarget > mylog
Here actually your OS redirects the output, not Ant
2) ant -l mylog mybuild.xml mytarget
Here -l (or -logfile) option has been given to ant and
it logs the build process in mylog file.
3) Ant comes with a bunch of predifined loggers which
log the build process in various ways. You van see
them at http://ant.apache.org/manual/listeners.html
