You could say the same with <ant> and <antcall>...

No.

<antcall> calls a target in the *same* build file.
<subant> calls a target in a *different* build file.

<subant> is like a for loop wrapped around <ant>, switching the default
inheritAll="true" of <ant> into inheritAll="false". --DD
