Subject RE: manifest attribute in ANT
Date Tue, 01 Jun 2004 16:16:43 GMT
Confirmed on cvs version from "May 24 2004".
Had a look into the source and it seems that that was done intentionally:

 public class Manifest {
     /** The max length of a line in a Manifest */
     public static final int MAX_LINE_LENGTH = 72;

     /**
      * Max length of a line section which is continued. Need to allow
      * for the CRLF.
      */
     public static final int MAX_SECTION_LENGTH = MAX_LINE_LENGTH - 2;

     /** The End-Of-Line marker in manifests */
     public static final String EOL = "\r\n";

     public static class Attribute {
         private void writeValue(PrintWriter writer, String value)
            while (line.getBytes().length > MAX_LINE_LENGTH) {
                 int breakIndex = MAX_SECTION_LENGTH;
                 String section = line.substring(0, breakIndex);
                 writer.print(section + EOL);
                 line = " " + line.substring(breakIndex);
             }
             writer.print(line + EOL);
         }

But I donĀ“t know the reason for that ... maybe something in the specs?
