No it is not.

We have 6.31 and 9.0.

I have already created the setup.rul, and the .ipr files. I have also exported the build file
that gets created, and now setting up the dynamic path info that is contained in that .bat
file, and putting them, into a properties file for Ant.

It looks like it should not be that hard. Just a lot of absolute paths that need to get changed
and the parameters that need to get built on the fly.

I think MultiPlatform IS, is much easier to use this way.

I do not think its free but I could be wrong. We are using the the
InstallShield compiler executable that came with InstallShield 7. We
reverse engineered how the InstallShield UI was calling the compiler and
used that info to call it from ANT.

There is a lot more to it. We had to build an Ant Task that created a .ipr
(InstallShield project) dynamically then we ran the IS compiler with a set
of rules (setup.rul) its the install shield instructions in VB.

Basically we got an InstallShield working with the InstallShield tool,
devised a parametrized way for creating different shields for different
projects then worked our way back to doing it from ant.

It was not as easy as just calling an executable. But maybe that has
changed or we overlooked it.

Good Luck

Now I've gained some understanding
Of the only world that we see.
Things that I once dreamed of
Have become reality.

These walls that still surround me
Still contain the same old me,
Just one more who's searching for
A world that ought to be.

Where is this located on their site?

I looked everywhere and could n to find it. Also, I called them and they did
not know anything about this standalone executable.

InstallShield has a standalone executable designed specifically for
things like Ant builds.

Within ant you do:

<exec dir="${tempsetupsdir}" executable="${installer}">
<arg line="-p MyProject.ism -b ${tempsetupsdir}\MyProject"/>

I think it is available for download from their site.

Subject: Installshield issues

I'm trying to automate as much of the build process for our product as
possible, ideally eliminating all gui's. I've been able to automate the
build for our Installshield files, with some limitations since I don't
know that much about Installshield. Is there anyone who's used Ant to
do IS stuff, particularly IS 6.3 Pro? I'd like to know which files are
source files to IS, and which files are created by IS as part of it's
build/packaging/transformation process.

Thanks in advance,
Ben P
