Subject tar size much bigger than source files
Date Mon, 01 Mar 2004 18:22:02 GMT
Greetings,

I wonder why is that a tar file with the bzip compression created by ant
is much bigger than original sources size. For instance, a bundle of
source files with 5Mbytes, resulted in a tar bzip file with a size of
9Mbytes!!!?

Doing it in shell prompt (tar cvfj) it result a well compressed file
with a size of 4Mbytes (the compression isn't better because some of the
files are already zip and jar files).

Anyone can explain me why is that happens?

BTW, even without the bzip compression, the tar file is approximately
about the same size (~9Mbytes).

I tested with ant 1.5.3-1 and 1.6.1.

Thanks.

Regards,
Pedro Salazar.
