Subject RE: ftp download, has it ever worked?
Date Mon, 09 Feb 2004 19:30:22 GMT
Hi Donald!

quoting the ant user's manual from toc/ant tasks/optional tasks/ftp/parameters
	Attribute 	|Description 											|Required
	binary |selects binary-mode ("yes") or text-mode ("no") transfers. Defaults to "yes" |No

So I gave a shot to "no-mention" of the binary parameter so its default would let me have
the binary,
I then gave a shot to binary="no" in case that would produce something enlightening but it
didn't of course.
I then (after your response) gave a shot to specifying binary="yes" in case the default was
wrong in the doc but it wasn't.
What I'm trying to download is the rpm I made in a telnet task on a remote server.
Ftp was there my friend at upload time. Below is my error message.
Have you ever achieved an ftp download yourself Donald?
Has anybody?
Be assured of my appreciation for the cycles you allocate to this and of my

Best regards,
Dan

If you ftp a jar file you need to make it a binary ftp or the file will be
contaminated.

Thanks,

Donald Holliday

quoting the ant user's manual from toc/ant tasks/optional tasks/ftp/getting
files

	Getting files from an FTP server works pretty much the same way as
sending them does. The only difference is that the nested filesets use
the remotedir attribute as the base directory for the files on the FTP
server, and the dir attribute as the local directory to put the files
into. The file structure from the FTP site is preserved on the local
machine.
	  <ftp action="get"
	       server="ftp.apache.org"
	       userid="anonymous"
	       password="me@myorg.com">
	    <fileset dir="htdocs/manual">
	      <include name="**/*.html"/>
	    </fileset>
	  </ftp>
	Logs in to ftp.apache.org as anonymous and recursively downloads all
.html files from default directory for that user into the
htdocs/manual directory on the local machine.

Has anybody ever got this to work? The archives has nothing but unanswered
entries that match this one.
