Ok, there will be a litte redesign on using outputstreams inside
the Ant Core. First of all <exec> and <apply> will be ported.
But <javadoc> is also a candidate for a new nested element <redirector>.

Should be part of Ant 1.6.2 ... whenever it comes :-)

Maybe have a look at [1] and you´ll see when the changes come in into
the CVS HEAD. Then you can use a nightly build.
