Subject AW: Modify files inside zip
Date Fri, 17 Oct 2003 07:36:12 GMT
I would like that we develop something like that in ant 1.7
Although I am not sure whether I am going to have the time to do it myself.
Actually, I would like to have a look at jakarta-common-vfs.
>From what I understand, it gives an API and implementations for this type of
functionality.
We have walked a bit in this direction already in ant 1.5.2+ with the new
Resource class.
However, rather than reinventing the wheel (compared to common-vfs) I might
be tempted to stop further usage of Resource and concentrate on vfs.
We should continue this discussion on the development list though.

And what about using zipfilesets inside tasks that currently support only
simple filesets as <copy>?

It seems to me that something like

<fileset zip="foo.zip">
  <include name="**/bar/**"/>
</fileset>

would be very similar to:

<zipfileset src="foo.zip">
  <include name="**/bar/**"/>
</zipfileset>

And as the class ZipFileSet extends Fileset, I wonder if it would not be
quite easy to do... I tried to have a look yesterday, but I got lost after
few classes...
