I've switched most of my delete requests to this now... delete task needs
some overhaul hopefully for 1.7 :)

I wouldn't think this would be worth writing a custom
task.  You could use different tricks:

verify that the file exists before attempting to
delete it, then use failonerror="true", or

verify it is gone after deletion, <fail>ing if the
file still exists.
