Hiya Vikas,

I haven't needed to do exactly as you need yet, but I would bet good
money that all of it can be done with the built-in Ant tasks.

There is a <tstamp> task for generating a timestamp in any format you
like. It puts it into a property which you can then use to generate a
JAR file name.

I do see a <cvs> task in the docs. You specify the command to execute as
an attribute rather than it having several tasks (<cvscheckout>,
<cvscommit>, etc). I'm sure many people on the list are using it, and
you'll get better responses once you start and can ask specific
questions. It's hard to answer a question like "Can I automate my builds
with Ant? How?" because it's so open-ended. Get started and ask for help
as you go.

Good luck! I've never been disappointed with my choice to move to Ant.

Hi Aurele,

Thanks for writing. I would appreciate if you send me a copy of the
applet signing custom task that you have written.

I would use that a guide to write custom tasks.

Thanks again.

Hello Vikas,

it is quite straightforward to create your own task as well in ant.
Although I am not sure about step 1 & 2 with existing ant task, it is
quite easy to do that in Java. For step 3, there already exist cvs
javaLibs, so again should be quite easy to write a task to check-in. If

you are going to use these a lot, a little effort spent in writing these

will reep great rewards!

I have written a task for signing applets using netscape signtool, not a

very good example in this case, but quite easy to follow. If you want a
copy let me know and I'll post it to you....

kind regards
