I read that article now - sorry, I think it isn=B4t the right think ...

For XML pipelining the only tool I know is Cocoon
http://cocoon.apache.org/2.0/
(and Forrest http://xml.apache.org/forrest/ as frontend for Cocoon).
But that would be a 'little' overhead for just a few transformations.
