few leads:

- use a custom ant.bat (or ant.sh) startup script and add the -Xmx (-Xms)
memory pool options
- use 1.4 if not already using it
- fork your javac/java calls and generally tasks the attribute is available
(if dbunit is the problem, embed the task into a forked <ant> call).
