Could be.  perform also invokes the whole maybeConfigure combo.  If
you have configured your task by invoking the setter and adders and
what not directly yourself, this is save, but assume something like

<target name="has-not-been-invoked">
  <mkdir dir="foo" id="bar"/>
</target>

<script language="JavaScript><![CDATA[
  bar.execute();
]]></script>

this is going to fail as the dir attribute has not been set.  If you
used perform instead, everything should be fine.
