Eh, a company that actually beat us at generating Java sources... And I
thought the 2000+ classes we generate from a Database schema was huge! At
least we have 10 years of legacy software and tables to support as an
excuse, but who can write that huge a UML module?

Yes this would be a good decision, but unfortunately its not mine.
BTW: these are generated sources out of a uml model.
