If he wants to substitute "llo wor" for "hello world",
that will work.  However, I thought what he was after
was a way to trim characters from one or both ends of
the string.  I still think Ant should support
ksh/bash-like properties string functions within ${},
but I don't have the time to do it myself yet.  Maybe
one day...
