I had a problem with out of memory exceptions recently, try this-

set ANT_OPTS=-Xincgc -Xms<MINMEM>m -Xmx<MAXMEM>m

   Here's the relevant section from the debug log.

    [javac] 'E:\CVS\FCSRelease\Vivaldi\classes'

    [javac] 'E:\CVS\FCSRelease\Vivaldi\src'
    [javac] '-g'
    [javac] The ' characters around the executable and arguments are
    [javac] not part of the command.

As you can see, no -J option is generated. Any suggestions would be 
I'm using Ant 1.5.3-1.
