Yeah, you could do this. it is not a very common solution. in greebo and in
maven you just tell the application in a file (which lies in CVS) what
version of the jar file to use. in my opinion you definitly need the
differentiation in the filename otherwise you have to have another structure for the
repository, where each version lies in a different directory witht the same
filename.
The versioning of jars via CVS is pretty awkward, so I know basically nobody
using it. Anyway, there are always different solutions for the same problem.
 But in my opinion the solution based on the filesystem is the best solution
here.
