I like the look of being able to nest FTP operations
in the session, but I would urge you to include the
preservelastmodified attribute as with the copy task. 
It is simple enough to implement using NetComponents
and Java IO via Ant's FileUtils class.  If you like
you can take a look at my submitted patch here:
