It would only make a *great* launcher if it could 'start and forget'
processes, instead of waiting for them (a patch was submitted for that, but
strangely enough never applied), and also didn't eat up some of the output
in -quiet mode (I want Ant to be quiet, but still see the messages from my
app). --DD

Blasphemy!  :)

Ant makes a great launcher for Java programs, especially because of its
dealings with classpath internally for <java>.
