It sounds like a CLASSPATH issue. What is ant seeing in the LOCALCLASSPATH
env variable?

Subject: ANT START PROBLEM

 HEllo to all,

I got jre 1.3.1_03 instaled on REDHAT 72
Netscape Java  Plug in works

I got JAVA_HOME and ANT_HOME set in profiles
BUT ant start gives this:
Couldn't find or load essential class
'java/lang/Object' java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError
java/lang/Object
/usr/bin/ant: line 56: 1818 Aborted	$JAVACMD
 -classpath $LOCALCLASSPATH -Dant.home=${ANT_HOME}
 $ANT_OPTS org.apache.tools.ant.Main $@

Can anyone help? I'm quite newbie to this
