Subject RE: How do I manage Oracle applications from Ant?
Date Tue, 12 Mar 2002 16:25:38 GMT
if it helps I've used these tasks for Sqlplus and imp/exp
  <!-- ===================================================================
   <!-- backup whouseenv
   <!-- ===================================================================
   <target name="BackupWHEnv" if="whouseenv" depends="backup">
   <echo message="Backup Warehouse Environment.."/>
   <exec dir="${fromdevice}" executable="cmd.exe" >
      <arg line="/c"/>
      <arg line="sqlplus"/>
      <arg line="${login}"/>
      <arg line="@${com-path}\envparamcreate"/>
   <exec dir="${fromdevice}" executable="cmd.exe" >
      <arg line="/C"/>
      <arg line="exp.exe"/>
      <arg line="userid=${login}"/>
      <arg line="file=${fromdevice}\oraenvbackup.dmp"/>
      <arg line="parfile=${fromdevice}\envparam.dat"/>
      <arg line="log=${com-path}\oraenvbackup.log"/>

The scripts were normal oracle sql scripts that SQLPlus would accept at the
command line

What is the best way to manage Oracle applications from Ant?

We intend to use Perforce for managing PL/SQL scripts that creates tables
and stored procedures.
Then we use Ant for running those .sql files through <sql> tasks.

The problem is that the scripts, which work fine under the Oracle IDE, does
not work under Ant.
The only way to get them through the <sql> task is to remove all semicolons
but the last, which of course makes them invalid in the Oracle end.

I have tried both the Oracle thin JDBC driver, and i-net SEROPTO, with the
same results, so I believe that this is an Ant problem.

BTW, we use the same approach for managing MS Transact-SQL code, with better

we have a fairly sophisticated set of ant scripts, which in addition to
being run manually, are run through a CruiseControl ant script and the 1.5
alpha does not appear to have broken anything. Good job!
