Subject Re: How do you version jar files?
Date Fri, 16 Nov 2001 14:42:49 GMT
over here we have a template file for a class (VersionMetaData)
which contains tokens replaced with the <replace> action.

tokens are things like build host, build time, build user,
and build number, which are determined by a Perl script.

each package or application requiring this version functionality
defines a Version class, the main of which prints out the
version. this makes it easy to see from the commandline what's
running where.

$ java -classpath ims.jar net.itouchnet.ims.Version
IMS 1.1.0-ALPHA (#3: 16 November 2001, 15:37:52 PM SAST) []
