Subject Release 1.3 of checkstyle
Date Sun, 04 Nov 2001 01:11:41 GMT
Announcing release of 1.3 of checkstyle is available at:

Checkstyle is a development tool to help programmers write Java code that
adheres to a coding standard. Its purpose is to automate the process of
checking Java code, and to spare humans of this boring (but important) task.

Checkstyle can be run via an ANT task (recommended) or a command line utility.

Changes since 1.2

* Support setting boolean properties with the values of "yes", "on", "true"
  and ignore case and whitespace.

* Support defining the format for public member variables. This is useful for
the fields required for Container Managed Persistence (CMP) Enterprise
  JavaBeans 1.1.

* Support for caching the details of files that pass checkstyle. This
significantly increases the speed of checkstyle on successive runs. Thanks
  Jon Skinner.

* Included patch to optionally ignore line length on import statements and to
totally ignore Javadoc. Thanks John Hohlen.

* Included patch to control whether the build fails on violation errors.
  Thanks Michael McDougall

* Included patch that significantly increased the speed of checkstyle. Thanks
  Lars Kuhne.

* Included patch that allows different loggers to be used. Checkstyle comes with
a standard out logger, and an XML logger. Thanks Stephane Bailliez
