i am a newbie please throw me a bone as to where i can find the links to
understand the ant utility for creating .war's

jakarta.apache.org/tomcat should have some decent info on the structure 
of a web.xml file.
As for the .war file, there should be an ANT task already there to 
create one if i'm not mistaken.
