In Ant1 - no not really. Ant2 will have two mechanisms to do this with 
slightly different use cases. 

One mechanims will allow users to set preferences so that if a tasks attibute 
is not set it will be set. (This is mainly so users can choose things like 
compilers etc). 

The other mechanism will be templating in which you can create a "template" 
of a task and then this is used to fill out a particular instance in build 
file (ie it fills in all the attributes you want filled in).
