I have done this:

build.xml
---------
<?xml version="1.0"?>
<project name="test" basedir="." default="test">
  <target name="test">
    <property file="build.properties"/>
    <echo message="${multiline}"/>
    <echo message="${singleline}"/>
  </target>
</project>

and that:

build.properties
----------------
multiline=\nThis \n\
is \n\
a \n\
test \n\
going \n\
over \n\
multiple \n\
lines.

singleline=And a single line...

and got:

D:\temp>ant
Buildfile: build.xml

test:
     [echo]
This
is
a
test
going
over
multiple
lines.
     [echo] And a single line...

BUILD SUCCESSFUL

Total time: 1 second

What are you doing?

Nico
