Alex,

The Junit task should certainly be included in the source download. Can you
tell us the URL you used. You should see it under
/src/main/org/apache/tools/ant/taskdefs/optional/junit
when you expand the archive.

The optional.jar is not in the binary download but is a separate download.
http://jakarta.apache.org/builds/jakarta-ant/release/v1.3/bin/jakarta-ant-1
.3-optional.jar
is the optional.jar from the 1.3 release.
